International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art Congress.

IKT is the International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art and was founded in 1973. It is a members organisation that brings together curators from across the world, to meet, share knowledge, exchange ideas and broaden their professional networks. IKT represents the professional interests of contemporary curators worldwide, and is the equivalent of international organisations such as ICOM, CIMAM or AICA.

IKT hosts an annual conference held each time in a different place, which acts as moment to come together and to discover the cultural scene of that location. On 2013, the annual congress was held in Madrid, Spain.

More than 130 curators participated in the congress, where they could visit several cultural centres and organisations focused on contemporary art, such as Museo Reina Sofía, CA2M, Matadero Madrid, La Casa Encendida, CentroCentro, Medialab, Alcalá 31, Sala de Arte Joven or Sala Canal. Moreover, during the congress the Association organised a public symposium conducted by Zoe Gray and held in Matadero under the topic “Curating Value”, you can see the recording of the symposium here.
